Emirates Unveils New Routes: Dubai to Shenzhen & More

Emirates is set to make aviation history as the first Middle Eastern airline to launch daily non-stop flights between Dubai and Shenzhen starting in summer 2025. This significant expansion further deepens Emirates’ commitment to enhancing connectivity between the UAE and the dynamic markets of mainland China.
The airline announced on March 3, 2025, via a press release that the new daily service will begin on July 1, 2025, marking Shenzhen as Emirates’ fourth destination in China. In a historic first, the route will also feature the airline’s retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER, specially configured to deliver enhanced comfort and efficiency for long-haul journeys.
“Our expansion into Shenzhen opens new doors for business and economic exchange between this technological powerhouse and global markets,” said Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer. This statement underscores Emirates’ strategy to leverage Shenzhen’s status as a hub for innovation and technology, reinforcing the importance of strengthening business links between the Middle East and one of China’s most vibrant cities.
Emirates’ milestone is not an isolated achievement; it builds on a legacy of connecting the Middle East directly to mainland China. The airline first broke new ground in 2002 with its Dubai to Shanghai service, establishing a 20-year partnership between the UAE and China that has since expanded to include Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. With the new Shenzhen service, Emirates is set to offer enhanced flight connections not only to key Chinese cities but also to major destinations across Africa, the Middle East/GCC, Europe, and beyond.
The new route’s strategic scheduling is designed to facilitate seamless travel for both business and leisure passengers. Flight times to Shenzhen have been optimized to connect with major global hubs, including key destinations in Kenya, Egypt, South Africa, and Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Emirates will provide convenient connections to major European cities such as London, Rome, and Madrid, as well as gateways in the US and South America, ensuring that travelers have a wide array of options for onward journeys.
In addition to the Shenzhen route, Emirates is broadening its network further with the introduction of new services in Southeast Asia. The airline will launch four weekly flights to Da Nang, Vietnam, starting June 2, 2025, via Bangkok. This service will serve as Emirates’ third gateway into Vietnam, joining Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in its growing portfolio. Furthermore, Emirates is set to initiate three weekly flights to Siem Reap, Cambodia, beginning June 3, 2025. Siem Reap, famed for its proximity to the ancient temples of Angkor, will benefit from a service that has been “optimally timed” to cater to leisure travelers, with robust connections from major European cities like France, the UK, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and Russia.
With the addition of Shenzhen, Da Nang, and Siem Reap, Emirates now boasts the largest and most diversified route network among any non-Asian airline operating in East Asia. The Dubai-based carrier will offer an impressive 269 flights per week from its hub, connecting 24 points across the globe.
This strategic expansion not only reinforces Emirates’ leadership in the international aviation market but also highlights its dedication to innovation, connectivity, and customer convenience. As Emirates continues to push boundaries and open new routes, the airline remains a vital bridge between the Middle East and the world’s most important economic and cultural centers, setting a high standard for future aviation endeavors.
