Dubai-based Empire Aviation (MJE) has entered a strategic partnership with Indian eVTOL manufacturer ePlane Company to deploy electric air taxis and air ambulances across key Asian markets, including India, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, and Indonesia.

The collaboration marks a significant step as urban air mobility continues to gain momentum. Paras P Dhamecha, founder and managing director of Empire Aviation, emphasized the importance of this joint effort:

“As the market for urban air mobility continues to grow in importance, Empire Aviation has entered into a strategic partnership with ePlane to provide our input on the development, certification, operational, and customer experience aspects of the eVTOL.”

This partnership will see Empire Aviation leverage its extensive operational expertise as it contributes to shaping ePlane’s innovative approach to eVTOL technology. In addition, the company is reportedly considering an investment in ePlane during its next funding round, further solidifying the relationship.

Empire Aviation currently holds air operator’s certificates (AOCs) in the United Arab Emirates, San Marino, and India. The operator manages a diverse fleet of around 20 aircraft, featuring high-end models from Boeing Business Jet, Bombardier Business Aircraft, Dassault Aviation, Embraer Executive Jets, and Gulfstream Aerospace. The company offers a range of services including aircraft management, private jet charters, and aircraft sales, which positions it as a key player in the premium aviation market.

ePlane Company, a startup incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), is developing electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft designed to revolutionize urban mobility. The firm plans to launch its first commercial flight in 2026, setting the stage for a new era of efficient, eco-friendly air transport in densely populated urban centers.

The partnership is strategically timed as Asian markets witness rapid growth in urbanization and a heightened demand for innovative mobility solutions. With urban air mobility poised to transform short-haul travel, Empire Aviation’s involvement will help ensure that emerging eVTOL solutions meet stringent regulatory standards and customer expectations across diverse markets.

By joining forces with ePlane, Empire Aviation aims to facilitate smoother certification processes and operational integration for eVTOL aircraft in multiple countries. The collaboration not only underscores the increasing importance of eVTOL technology in addressing urban congestion and environmental challenges but also positions both companies to benefit from the evolving landscape of air mobility.

Industry experts note that as cities across Asia grapple with growing transportation challenges, innovative solutions like eVTOL air taxis and air ambulances offer a promising alternative to traditional ground transport. With its deep experience in aviation operations and fleet management, Empire Aviation is well-placed to support ePlane in achieving these goals.

This strategic collaboration reflects a broader trend in the aviation industry, where established operators are partnering with innovative startups to drive the next generation of air mobility. As both companies prepare to navigate the regulatory, operational, and customer experience challenges associated with eVTOL deployment, their partnership is expected to play a pivotal role in the transformation of urban transportation across Asia.
