Eric Stonestreet Named Godfather of Norwegian Aqua
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced actor Eric Stonestreet as the godfather of its upcoming ship, Norwegian Aqua. Known for his role as Cameron Tucker on the hit TV show Modern Family, Stonestreet brings his Emmy-winning charm and humor to the ship’s christening. The actor, who has also appeared in The Secret Life of Pets and Identity Thief, will officially christen the ship on April 13, 2025, in Miami.
David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, expressed excitement over Stonestreet’s appointment. “We had an amazing time with Eric on one of our ships, and also got to spend some time with his charming family after,” Herrera said. “Over the past couple of months, Eric has become a true friend of NCL. His authenticity, wit, charm, and genuine desire to bring happiness to the masses embody the role of godfather for Norwegian Aqua and what we stand for as a company.”
The Norwegian Aqua will be the first ship in Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Plus Class, offering a range of Caribbean voyages beginning in 2025. For its inaugural season, the ship will homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida, and sail 7-day itineraries to popular destinations such as Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the company’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay.
Stonestreet, who is known for his love of travel and adventure, spoke highly of the upcoming ship. “Traveling the world to meet new people and explore new places is something I love to do, and after recently experiencing what Norwegian has to offer, I can attest that Norwegian truly makes it easy to do more of what I enjoy while on vacation,” he said. “I am blown away by what’s in store for Norwegian Aqua and I cannot wait to take a ride on the Aqua Slidecoaster, indulge in some red curry at the all-new Sukhothai, and most importantly, create lifelong memories with my own family while on board this innovative new ship.”
From August 2025 through October 2025, and May 2026 through October 2026, Norwegian Aqua will be based in New York, offering 5- to 7-day Bermuda voyages. The ship will also operate Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Miami between October 2025 and March 2027, providing guests with a variety of vacation options.
With Stonestreet’s involvement and the exciting new amenities aboard Norwegian Aqua, Norwegian Cruise Line is set to offer travelers an unforgettable vacation experience in the years to come.
