Camping Is More Popular Than Ever
As more and more people are choosing to forgo the traditional vacation of getting on an airplane and staying in a hotel, RV resorts and campgrounds with rental accommodations are more popular than ever. Getting outside and enjoying the fresh air at a campground resort where travelers can avoid crowded spaces has increased in popularity over the last couple of years, and while most of these destinations provide some level of amenities or activities designed to make their guests’ stay memorable, we’re sharing a few top destinations with unique amenities to help ensure an experience of a lifetime!

Bear Cave RV Campground
This unique destination in Buchanan, MI is a wonderful place to experience the great outdoors. The campground is nestled on the shores of the beautiful St. Joseph River and is just 15 miles from Warren Dunes State Park. The property features amenities including a swimming pool, playground, basketball, volleyball, boat rentals, game room and much more. But the campground’s most intriguing amenity is found underground! Bear Cave RV Campground is home to the only naturally formed cave in Michigan. The cave is 15 feet deep, between four and six feet wide and 10-15 feet high. A 40-foot winding staircase leads visitors through the cave to see stalactites, petrified leaves and other artifacts. In addition to the metals of native ores in the walls, the cave holds a lot of history. It played a significant role in the Underground Railroad during the period of slavery. In 1875, the loot from an Ohio bank robbery was stashed in the cave. This later served as inspiration for the 1903 silent film The Great Train Robbery, a film considered a silent classic today and the precursor to today’s thrillers. After a day of exploring, get cozy in one of the campground’s two-bedroom cottages that sleep up to six guests and offer all the comforts of home.

Rancho Oso RV & Camping Resort
Vacation at a western-themed ranch secluded in the beautiful mountains of Santa Barbara, where you can experience a rodeo, learn to lasso and help take care of the resident horses. Nestled between the Los Padres National Forest and the Santa Ynez River, the campground offers visitors fresh air and 310 beautiful acres to explore, which are filled with a rich history dating back to 1845. That’s when a parcel of land including what is now Rancho Oso was granted to Jose Dominguez by Pio Pico, the Governor of Mexico. This land, called Rancho Los Prietas y Nagalayegua, consisted of 48,728 acres and at the time of the land grant, the first known building was constructed where Rancho Oso is today. Guests can choose to stay in a super-quirky teepee, covered Conestoga wagon, or opt for a less rustic experience in a cozy cabin. Whatever you choose, you’ll enjoy a fully immersive experience with endless opportunities for horseback riding, hiking and photography at this unique western ranch.

Gettysburg Farm RV Campground
At Gettysburg Farm RV Campground, you can immerse yourself in a working farm in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Amish Country. Guests of Gettysburg Farm have plenty of opportunities to feed and interact with the animals, watch the planting and harvesting of crops and enjoy some outdoor relaxation. Campground residents include pigs, horses, cows, llamas, mules, goats and sheep, which are all part of the authentic farm experience. You’ll also see plenty of chickens and roosters wandering the campground. Nearby attractions abound, as the campground is surrounded by American Civil War history from the nearby Gettysburg battlefields. Stay in a rental cottage or increase the adventure aspect of your next vacation by driving a rented RV from Outdoorsy to the campground.
