Marabu, based in Tallinn Lennart Meri, has entered into a seasonal ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) agreement with Lithuania’s KlasJet to enhance its fleet capacity with two Boeing 737-800s. This strategic partnership marks a significant expansion for the Estonian airline as it prepares for the upcoming peak summer season.

The first of these aircraft, registered LY-LOC (msn 33980), began operations for Marabu on March 15, 2024, and is stationed at Hamburg Helmut Schmidt. According to Flightradar24 ADS-B data, it will soon be joined by a second Boeing 737-800 by the end of April. Both aircraft will be based out of Munich through November 2024 to accommodate increased travel demand during the summer.

Axel Schefe, Chief Executive of Marabu, expressed enthusiasm about the new arrangement, stating, “The transition from spontaneous agreements to a long-term partnership with KlasJet reflects our confidence in their ability to meet our needs and exceed expectations.”

Marabu, which operates as a leisure specialist and is a sister carrier to Condor, currently manages an in-house fleet of four Airbus A320-200Ns. Additionally, it has three A320-200s wet-leased from European Air Charter. In a recent interview with ch-aviation, Schefe revealed that the airline aims to maintain around five wet-leased aircraft each summer season to provide greater flexibility and support its growing fleet operations.

This expansion is a testament to Marabu’s commitment to enhancing its service offerings and adapting to seasonal travel trends, ensuring it remains well-equipped to handle the surge in passenger traffic during the busiest months of the year.
