Ethiopian Airlines has officially launched passenger service to Hanoi, Vietnam, with the inaugural flight arriving at Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) on July 11, 2025. The new route operates four times per week from Bole Addis Ababa International Airport (ADD), with a stopover at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Flights are operated using the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

This marks Ethiopian Airlines’ first entry into the Vietnamese market and its 20th destination in Asia, further expanding its reach into Southeast Asia. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa and was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and airline executives.

Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, said the new route underscores the airline’s commitment to bridging Africa with key global regions. “We are truly delighted to start passenger services to Hanoi, a city of great cultural and economic significance,” said Tasew. “This new route not only supports our vision of connecting Africa to the world but also serves as a bridge for enhanced cooperation between Africa and Southeast Asia.”

Ethiopian Airlines aims to leverage its modern fleet, strong service reputation, and extensive network to promote greater tourism, business, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the African continent. The airline’s growing presence in Asia also highlights its long-term strategy of diversifying routes and expanding connectivity between emerging markets.

With this launch, Ethiopian continues to position itself as a key player in linking Africa with Asia’s fast-growing economies.
