Ethiopian Cargo and cargo.one have jointly announced that the Ethiopian national carrier’s cargo capacity will – from the late summer this year – be available for instant booking on the latter’s airfreight booking marketplace.

Freight forwarders from across the world will be able to book Ethiopian Cargo capacity quickly and easily, they pointed out.

Ethiopian Cargo is aiming to become one of the world’s top 20 cargo airlines by 2025. It already operates Africa’s largest air cargo network, currently reaching 130 destinations by means of both all-cargo both freighter and passenger services.

Ethiopian flies to destinations throughout Africa as well as to Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific region.

By featuring on cargo.one’s digital marketplace, Ethiopian Cargo will grow its visibility with cargo agents worldwide and “further enrich its brand into the digital realm”, the partners said in a joint statement.

The Addis Ababa-headquartered freight carrier will be joining more than 40 of the world’s airlines that currently appear on the cargo.one digital sales channel.

Ethiopian Airlines Group chief executive Mesfin Tasew commented: “Digital sales will become a vital part of our future.

“Joining forces with cargo.one is the natural choice when looking for an experienced partner to enable the transition to digital sales.

“Collaboratively, we will extend Ethiopian Cargo’s reach and launch digital customer experiences at the very top of the league,” he said.

“cargo.one as a partner shares our own passion and drive to help boost Ethiopian Cargo to become a digital cargo role model not only for Africa, but internationally.”

Moritz Claussen, founder and co-CEO of cargo.one, observed: “Many thousands of forwarders on cargo.one now look forward to a new age of access and convenience for its capacities.

“For Ethiopian Cargo, this key step forward will be instrumental in powering sales and brand growth, and seizing more of its huge potential for important freight markets.”

Ethiopian Cargo is now working with cargo.one to leverage the latter’s expertise in order to ensure that the carrier develops as strong a digital proposition as possible.

Available in 76 countries globally, cargo.one offers instant, real-time booking freight space.

It has been a busy week for the business. Earlier this week, it was announced that Baku, Azerbaijan-headquartered freighter operator Silk Way West Airlines had chosen cargo.one as its preferred booking platform to offer the airline’s freighter capacity to the forwarder market (https://www.aircargonews.net/trending/airfreight-disruptors/silk-way-west-opts-for-cargo-one-booking-platform/).

Cargo agents will be able to book Silk Way West Airlines’ capacity through cargo, one from this autumn.
