Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to launch a new direct route from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) to Peshawar’s Bacha Khan International Airport (PEW), starting on September 29, 2025. This marks the airline’s fourth destination in Pakistan and its 16th new route expansion for 2025.

The airline currently operates services to three other cities in Pakistan: Karachi (KHI), Islamabad (ISB), and Lahore (LHE), and the addition of Peshawar strengthens its growing presence in the region. Etihad will operate this new route using Airbus A320 family aircraft, offering eight seats in business class and 150 in economy.

Initially, the service will run five times a week, with flights on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Starting on November 22, 2025, the airline will increase the frequency to daily flights. The schedule for the flights is as follows:

  • Flight EY 276: Departs Abu Dhabi at 02:45 local time, arriving in Peshawar at 06:55 local time.
  • Flight EY 277: Departs Peshawar at 08:50 local time, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 11:15 local time.

Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “We are thrilled to further expand our presence in Pakistan with the launch of our daily service between Abu Dhabi and Peshawar. This new route reflects our commitment to providing vital connectivity for travellers between Pakistan and the Gulf, Africa, Europe, and North America.”

In addition to the new flights to Peshawar, Etihad will also increase its frequency to Karachi to 17 flights a week starting October 1, 2025. The launch of the Peshawar route is expected to serve the significant Pakistani expatriate community in the UAE, which numbers approximately 1.9 million, making them the second-largest expatriate group after Indians.
