This inaugural flight, a direct outcome of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two carriers, symbolizes a significant step forward in strengthening the cargo and trade ties between the UAE and Africa.

The timing of this inaugural flight was strategically chosen to tap into the surging demand for flowers, showcasing the synergistic potential of Etihad Cargo’s expansive global reach and Astral Aviation’s robust network across Africa. The successful completion of this flight underscores the collaboration’s ability to enhance cargo capacity and provide efficient logistic solutions, particularly for the transport of perishable goods which require timely and careful handling.

Under the MOU, Astral Aviation is set to operate an increased number of flights to the UAE’s capital, with support from Etihad Cargo. This partnership is poised to leverage the combined networks, expertise, and logistics capabilities of both airlines to boost cargo services between the UAE and Africa. It represents a mutual commitment to delivering innovative, customer-focused solutions and maintaining high-quality service standards across their operations.

Following this successful inaugural service, Astral Aviation is slated to commence weekly operations from Abu Dhabi starting 28 March 2024. This regular service is expected to further solidify the trade connections between the UAE and Africa, accommodating a diverse range of cargo needs and contributing to economic growth in both regions.
