Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have officially launched a new codeshare partnership to expand connectivity across Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. The agreement, first announced in March 2025, aims to create seamless travel options by integrating both carriers’ extensive networks.

Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Arik De, highlighted the benefits of the partnership, stating that easy connections through Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa will enhance flexibility, boost trade, promote tourism, and provide improved travel experiences. The codeshare simplifies travel with single booking options, one check-in, and baggage transferred directly to the final destination.

Ethiopian Airlines will begin operating flights between Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) on July 15, 2025. Etihad will follow with daily flights to Addis Ababa starting October 8, 2025.

Through the partnership, Etihad passengers gain access to Ethiopian’s extensive African network, offering connections to 55 destinations in 33 countries, including Entebbe, Kinshasa, Kigali, Lusaka, Harare, and Victoria Falls. Meanwhile, Ethiopian passengers will benefit from Etihad’s global reach through Abu Dhabi, connecting to 20 major cities in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, such as Sydney, Krabi, Colombo, and Phnom Penh.

The strategic alliance is expected to strengthen both airlines’ competitive positions and enhance air travel links between the fast-growing markets of Africa and Asia-Pacific while providing passengers with more choices and convenience.
