Etihad Launches Airbus A380 Service to Toronto

Etihad Airways has launched its flagship Airbus A380 service on the Abu Dhabi–Toronto route, with the aircraft making its debut arrival at Toronto Pearson International Airport on June 24, 2025. The superjumbo was greeted with a traditional water salute, marking a milestone for both Etihad and Canadian aviation.
Replacing the previously operated Airbus A350-1000, the daily A380 service significantly boosts capacity between the UAE and Canada in response to growing demand from business, leisure, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) travelers. The introduction also reflects Etihad’s commitment to enhancing its North American presence, especially in Toronto, which has been a key market since 2005.
Etihad’s A380 offers 486 seats across four cabin classes. At the pinnacle is The Residence, the world’s only three-room suite in the sky, featuring a private living room, bedroom, and ensuite bathroom with shower. The First Apartments include nine enclosed suites offering 80-inch lie-flat beds and ottoman seating. Business Studios provide 70 lie-flat seats with direct aisle access, premium dining, and entry to The Lobby, a mid-flight lounge area. The Economy Smart Seats section includes 405 seats with enhanced headrests and adjustable support, including 68 extra legroom options.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, noted the significance of the upgrade, stating, “We are proud to introduce the A380 and offer guests flying between Abu Dhabi and Canada an extraordinary new travel experience. Toronto has been a cornerstone of our North American network since 2005. The introduction of our flagship aircraft on this route reflects our deep commitment to the Canadian market.”
