EVA Air Expands Fleet with New A350-1000 and A321neo Order

Taiwanese carrier EVA Air has finalized an order for six long-range Airbus A350-1000s and three single-aisle A321neo aircraft, completing a deal that was first revealed in March 2025. With these new additions, the airline’s total aircraft backlog now stands at 24 A350-1000s and 18 A321neos, a significant milestone that underscores EVA Air’s commitment to expanding its fleet and strengthening its market position in an increasingly competitive global aviation industry.
The new order represents a major step forward in EVA Air’s fleet modernization strategy. In a press release issued on April 7, 2025, Airbus confirmed the order and highlighted the superior performance and efficiency of both aircraft types. EVA Air President Clay Sun expressed enthusiasm about the deal, stating that “both the A350-1000 and A321neo set a high standard in their respective categories. As we move forward with our fleet and network expansion plans, we look forward to leveraging the aircraft’s extended range and efficiency to strengthen our market position.” This confidence reflects the airline’s strategic focus on long-haul growth, enhanced passenger experience, and improved operational performance.
Airbus, a leader in commercial aircraft manufacturing, praised EVA Air for its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, added that the company deeply values EVA Air’s confidence in these latest generation aircraft and stands ready to support their seamless integration into the airline’s fleet. The A350-1000, known as the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft, offers a non-stop range of up to 9,700 nautical miles, enabled by the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines. This capability allows the aircraft to cover extensive routes while consuming 25% less fuel than previous generation models and achieving a similar reduction in carbon emissions. Moreover, the A350 is designed to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel, and Airbus aims to have its aircraft capable of 100% SAF operation by 2030.
The A321neo, a key member of the A320neo Family, brings its own set of advantages. It features new generation engines, Sharklets, and cabin efficiency enablers that together deliver around 20% fuel savings. Since its introduction in 2016, the A321neo has garnered over 6,800 orders from more than 90 customers and captured over 80% of the market share in its segment. EVA Air’s decision to incorporate these aircraft into its fleet is expected to boost operational efficiency on both long-haul and short-haul routes, providing enhanced connectivity, lower operating costs, and a better overall travel experience for passengers.
The finalization of this deal is a testament to EVA Air’s proactive approach to fleet renewal and its ambition to remain at the forefront of modern air travel. The new A350-1000s and A321neos are anticipated to begin deliveries in 2026, positioning the airline to better serve its growing network and adapt to the evolving demands of global air travel. As EVA Air continues to expand and modernize its fleet, it reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in passenger service, setting a high standard for carriers around the world.
