Expedia to Acquire Tiqets to Boost Tours and Activities Business
Expedia Group has signed an agreement to acquire Amsterdam-based Tiqets, a global tours and activities platform, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, pending Works Council review and approval.
Expedia says the acquisition will strengthen its position in the fast-growing tours and experiences sector while enhancing its ability to deliver full-trip travel solutions. “The Tiqets integration is a key step toward our vision to build the most comprehensive, global travel solution powered by our expanded APIs, across activities, air, car and insurance,” said Alfonso Paredes, president of B2B at Expedia Group.
He added that Tiqets’ expertise in attractions and cultural experiences pairs naturally with Expedia’s scale and technology, enabling faster innovation and new growth opportunities for partners and travellers. Expedia also noted that the deal will expand its activities API, giving partners broader access to global supply spanning attractions, museums, cultural experiences and more.
The acquisition follows strong B2B momentum at Expedia Group, which reported an 18% increase in its B2B segment and a 26% rise in B2B bookings during its Q3 2025 earnings call. CEO Ariane Gorin highlighted the continued strength and future potential of the business. Paredes outlined further 2026 priorities, including expansion across Asia and Europe, deeper loyalty integrations and enhancements in insurance, payments and fintech products.
The move underscores growing consolidation in the fragmented tours and activities market. Major travel players have been integrating experiences platforms into their ecosystems, including Booking Holdings’ acquisition of FareHarbor in 2018 and Tripadvisor’s purchase of Bokun. Tiqets founder Luuc Elzinga recently discussed industry growth opportunities at The Phocuswright Conference 2024, highlighting continued momentum in the experiences sector.
