Explora Journeys Unveils Summer 2027 with Alaska
Explora Journeys has revealed its Summer 2027 season under the banner “An Ocean of New,” featuring three major milestones for the luxury brand. The season will include maiden port calls across the Mediterranean, the debut of a new LNG-powered ship, EXPLORA IV, and the long-awaited addition of Alaska to its roster on EXPLORA III. These itineraries, spanning from March through November 2027, invite guests to plan ahead for immersive voyages aboard EXPLORA I, II, III and the forthcoming IV.
Anna Nash, President of Explora Journeys, said the itineraries were crafted to offer flexibility, extended stays and deeper immersion at a gentler pace. She highlighted the significance of Alaska’s inclusion, noting that traversing its blue-ice glaciers and verdant fjords would bring a new dimension to the brand’s collection of destinations. Nash added that offering many journeys aboard the new EXPLORA III and IV would enhance guests’ experiences with the latest in elegant design and technology.
EXPLORA IV, set to join the fleet in Summer 2027, represents the next evolution in ocean travel for MSC Group’s ultra-elegant brand. This LNG-powered vessel will debut redesigned public spaces, expanded outdoor decks and a larger number of expansive residences, providing one of the highest space-to-guest ratios in luxury cruising. The ship’s emphasis on privacy and seamlessly blending indoor-outdoor living aims to redefine onboard comfort and elegance.
In Europe, EXPLORA I and II will continue to explore home waters with fresh perspectives on the Mediterranean’s enduring allure. More than 60 possible journeys will trace storied coastlines with maiden calls in charismatic ports. Guests can wander the Ottoman palaces of Istanbul, explore Algiers’ vibrant Casbah, and meander through Amalfi’s cliffside villages. Sardinia’s Olbia will offer archaeological treasures and secluded beaches, while Croatia’s medieval town of Trogir and Slovenia’s pastel-hued coastal gem of Toper will introduce new Adriatic discoveries.
Adding Alaska to the program marks a significant expansion for the brand. EXPLORA III will offer voyages departing Vancouver that sail the so-called Whale’s Highway, where humpbacks, orcas and dolphins are frequently sighted amid ice-sculpted coastlines. Guests will marvel at Mendenhall Glacier, paddle through Sitka Sound, and dock in frontier towns that serve as gateways to dog sledding, hiking and immersive cultural experiences. Totem pole learnings, Dungeness crab tastings and visits to St. Michael’s Cathedral will enrich each journey.
Two highlight itineraries exemplify the Alaskan experience. The 11-night “A Journey Through Untamed Landscapes & Coastal Treasures” sails roundtrip from Vancouver May 10–21, 2027, featuring maiden visits to Sitka, Prince Rupert and the remote waterways of Endicott Arm. The 14-night “Extended Journey Across Alaska’s Wild Frontier” from July 2–16, 2027, charts a course from the icy expanse of Hubbard Glacier to the historic port of Kodiak and the Indigenous heritage of Alert Bay.
