Explore Etihad’s 3-Room Residence: The Pinnacle of Airline Luxury

Etihad Airways’ The Residence stands as the ultimate symbol of luxury in air travel, offering a three-room suite that redefines opulence in the skies. Launched a decade ago, this exclusive cabin features a private en suite shower, personalized butler service, and an array of high-end amenities. Originally priced between $20,000 and $30,000 one way, The Residence has recently become more accessible due to changes in Etihad’s fare structure.

In the summer of 2023, Etihad reintroduced its Airbus A380 fleet and revamped The Residence offering. The suite, once available only as a standalone option, is now offered as an upgrade for first-class passengers. This new fare structure makes The Residence more attainable. For instance, upgrading from first-class to The Residence on a flight from New York John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) costs $4,790 for a single passenger and $5,990 for two passengers traveling together. A round-trip including both first-class tickets and The Residence upgrades totals approximately $24,700, reflecting a significant decrease from its initial cost.

Onboard, The Residence provides an unparalleled luxury experience. The suite features a spacious living area with a double-seat sofa, two dining tables, and a 32-inch television. Passengers can enjoy an extensive selection of in-flight entertainment and gourmet meals prepared by Etihad’s top culinary team. The private en suite shower allows for a refreshing experience during the flight, while the double bed, adorned with plush linens and Armani sleepwear, ensures a restful sleep. Miami-based businessman and aviation enthusiast Gino Bertuccio, who has flown on The Residence multiple times, highlights the suite’s exceptional service and exclusive amenities.

Booking The Residence has evolved with Etihad’s recent changes. It is now available on Airbus A380-800 routes between Abu Dhabi and New York, as well as Abu Dhabi and London Heathrow. From November 1, 2024, it will also be offered on flights between Abu Dhabi and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. Passengers must first book a first-class ticket and then opt for The Residence upgrade. Additionally, following changes to Etihad’s loyalty program in June 2024, members can use miles to book The Residence. However, Gold Tier members or higher need at least 300,000 miles for this upgrade.

For those who may not be able to secure a reservation, Etihad offers a 3D virtual tour of The Residence, allowing potential passengers to explore this luxurious cabin experience online. This innovative option provides a glimpse into the exclusivity and comfort of The Residence, ensuring it remains a coveted choice for those seeking the highest level of air travel luxury.
