Explore the Enchanting Marquesas Islands with Windstar Cruises’ New Itineraries
Windstar Cruises introduces an exciting opportunity for travelers seeking adventure in the remote corners of the South Pacific. With the deployment of the 312-guest Star Breeze in French Polynesia, Windstar is doubling its capacity in the region and launching new itineraries that include the captivating Marquesas Islands.
The Star Breeze, boasting a larger size and faster sailing capabilities than its predecessor, the Wind Spirit, marks a new era for Windstar in offering longer journeys to the more secluded locales of French Polynesia. Starting in July, travelers can embark on the “Tahitian Treasures & Magnificent Marquesas” cruise, a 14-day itinerary that will also be available in September, March, June, and September of 2025, and March of 2026.
This exceptional voyage begins in Papeete, the vibrant capital of French Polynesia, and takes guests on an exploration of Fakarava in the Tuamotu Archipelago before sailing northeast to the Marquesas Islands. The itinerary includes stops at Fatu Hiva, Hiva Oa, and Nuku Hiva, offering an unparalleled glimpse into the beauty and isolation of these volcanic islands. The Marquesas, known for their remoteness and distinct timezone, lie 740 miles northeast of Tahiti, making them one of the most secluded destinations on the planet.
After visiting the Marquesas, the Star Breeze will return to the Tuamotus to explore Rangiroa, followed by the idyllic Society Islands, including Taha’a, Bora Bora, and Moorea, before concluding the journey in Papeete.
In addition to the Marquesas itinerary, Windstar will offer other cruises in the region, such as the 7-day “Dreams of Tahiti,” the 11-day “Tahiti & the Tuamotu Islands,” and the 10-day “Tahiti & Moorea Foodie” cruise tour. The newly renovated Star Breeze promises an intimate cruising experience, navigating Tahiti’s hidden lagoons and pristine beaches in true Windstar style.
To enhance the cultural immersion, each sailing will feature a French Polynesian cultural ambassador, who will organize onboard activities like Tahitian dance and language lessons, crafts, and Ukulele performances. The ship will also showcase local artwork and offer guests a taste of Tahitian culture through movies, music, books, and board games.
New shore excursions are designed to deepen guests’ connection to the region, including a cultural catamaran cruise in Raiate and a pre-cruise scuba diving certification in Papeete. Additionally, Windstar has partnered with Coral Gardeners to offer excursions focused on the preservation and protection of coral reefs, a critical ecosystem in the South Pacific.
Windstar’s commitment to the environment is further demonstrated by its adoption of over 2,500 corals with Coral Gardeners, supporting the organization’s reef restoration efforts. By 2025, Windstar aims to establish a dedicated nursery to support 5,000 corals, underscoring its dedication to sustainable tourism and conservation.
Chris Prelog, President of Windstar, expresses excitement about the new offerings, stating, “We have dialed in our itineraries and curated cultural experiences on and off the ship. We can’t wait to share it with more travelers.” This initiative by Windstar Cruises invites adventurers to discover the untouched beauty of the Marquesas Islands, offering a unique blend of luxury, exploration, and cultural enrichment in one of the world’s most remote and fascinating destinations.
