FAA invests $31M in cargo improvement across nine airports in the US
Nine airports across the United States will undergo airport cargo improvements as part of a $31M investment awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) from the 2022 Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Grants.
The FAA said the improvements at these airports will help expedite the movement of goods and strengthen supply chains throughout the country
“Every day, we rely on goods transported through our nation’s airports,” US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a statement.
Buttigieg added: “Today’s announcement will make improvements at airports across our country so they can handle cargo more efficiently and help strengthen America’s supply chains.”
Funding and allotment of the $31M investment are as follows:
Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) in Rockford, Illinois – $6,799,210
Huntsville International Airport-Carl T. Jones Field (HSV) in Huntsville, Alabama – $5,614,732
Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) in Greer, South Carolina – $4,524,530
Bishop International Airport (FNT) in Flint, Michigan – $2,307,21
Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) – $8,169,544
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seattle, Washington (SEA) –$1,926,518
Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport (TOL) in Toledo, Ohio – $1,071,768
Stockton Metropolitan Airport in Stockton (SCK) California – $417,036
Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick (PVD), Rhode Island – $197,310
Improvement works across the nine airports vary from taxiway rehabilitation to reconstructing cargo apron pavements and taxiway design improvements.
