Father and Child Rescued After Falling Overboard on Disney Cruise

A dramatic incident occurred aboard the Disney Dream cruise ship when a father and his young child fell overboard near Fort Lauderdale. The event took place during a four-day cruise to the Bahamas. According to Newsweek, the father had placed the child on a plexiglass railing on Deck 4 to take a photo when the child lost balance and fell into the sea. Without hesitation, the father jumped in after them.
Crew members were immediately alerted and issued a ship-wide emergency code “Mr. M.O.B.” (man overboard), activating the rescue protocol. A small rescue boat was quickly deployed to the area where the fall occurred. Both passengers were safely retrieved within minutes. Footage of the rescue has since circulated on social media.
In a statement to Fox 35 Orlando, Disney Cruise Line confirmed the successful recovery of the father and child, praising the fast response of their crew. “The crew of the Disney Dream quickly retrieved two guests. We commend the expertise and responsiveness of our team, which ensured both individuals were brought back onboard safely within minutes,” the company said. “The safety and well-being of our guests are a top priority, and this incident highlights the effectiveness of our protocols.”
After the rescue, the Disney Dream resumed its journey toward Port Everglades in Florida without further disruptions.
