FedEx pilots have voted against the latest contract offer from bosses at the express giant.
The pilots yesterday rejected a tentative agreement with the company by a vote of 57% to 43%.
The agreement includes a 30% pay increase and a 30% increase to the pilots’ legacy pension.
In June, the deal was approved by The FedEx Master Executive Council (MEC), the governing body of the FedEx unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA).
FedEx ALPA chair Chris Norman said: “Our members have spoken and we will now regroup and prepare for the next steps.
“In the coming weeks, the FedEx ALPA leadership will meet to establish a timeline for assessing pilot group priorities moving forward.
“FedEx pilots remain unified and that will drive a new path that will help produce an agreement that all FedEx pilots will be proud to support.”
It is expected that the National Mediation Board will convene a status conference with both parties. However, there is no time requirement for this to occur.
FedEx is not the only express company facing difficulties with contract negotiations.
This week talks between UPS and the Teamsters Union were set to resume with the threat of strike action hanging over talks.
