Ferrari is gearing up to launch its first all-electric model, maintaining the emotional driving experience synonymous with its supercars, according to CEO Benedetto Vigna. During the opening of the new E-Building in Maranello, Italy, Vigna emphasized the electric model’s ability to deliver the traditional Ferrari thrill, set for release in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This new facility will produce internal combustion, hybrid, and all-electric vehicles, marking a significant step in Ferrari’s strategy to embrace diverse powertrain technologies. The move into electric vehicles (EVs) has stirred robust debate among enthusiasts and collectors, particularly concerning the absence of the iconic Ferrari engine roar. However, Vigna assured that the essence of Ferrari’s allure, the visceral emotion and performance, remains intact.

Vigna clarified that while the electric motors are quieter, they are not silent, and Ferrari aims to highlight their unique sounds authentically without artificial enhancements. He believes the comprehensive sensory experience of driving — including visual elements, handling dynamics, and even the sound of the electric motor — contributes to the overall emotional impact.

The CEO also addressed the ongoing discussions about Ferrari’s transition to electric models, acknowledging that while some purists might resist the change, others will welcome the new offerings. The E-Building’s significant investment demonstrates Ferrari’s commitment to innovation and flexibility in production, preparing for a future where customers can choose from various powertrain options.

Ferrari’s move towards electric models does not signal a departure from its heritage but rather an evolution, as it aims to redefine the supercar experience for the next generation while staying true to the brand’s core values.
