FexEx feeder airline Mountain Air Cargo said it has launched the “first-ever containerised” C408 SkyCourier.

In January, Mountain Air Cargo become the first to operate Textron Aviation’s Cessna SkyCourier freighter.

The North Carolina-based cargo airline said in a LinkedIn post: “On Monday March 13th, 2023, in Tallahassee, FL, MAC flew its first revenue run with the C408 SkyCourier in a containerised configuration.”

“This inaugural C408 flight with containers was the first for the Feeder Network. Congratulations to Mountain Air Cargo and all of you who made this possible,” added Michael Bandalan, Mountain Air Cargo chief executive.

Mountain Air Cargo has stated on its website that it is one of seven feeder air carriers for Fedex in the US.

In May 2022, Textron Aviation delivered the first of 50 Cessna SkyCourier twin utility turboprop freighters to FedEx Express.

FedEx Express is the Cessna SkyCourier’s launch customer after signing a deal in 2017. The company agreed to an initial fleet order of 50 cargo aircraft and options for 50 more.

In August last year, Mountain Air Cargo also requested US Department of Transportation authorisation to operate large aircraft and plans to add a ATR-72-600F freighter to its fleet.
