Fiji Airways ends B737-700 operations
Fiji Airways (FJ, Nadi) has retired its last B737-700, DQ-FJF (msn 28878), following the expiration of its operating lease. The 22.1-year-old narrowbody, which was the airline’s (then known as Air Pacific) first B737NG when it was delivered in 1998, operated its last revenue service as FJ1230 from Tongatapu to Nadi on September 2, 2020, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. It was subsequently ferried via Honolulu, Los Angeles Int’l, and Bangor to Teesside for part-out. Fiji Airways said the aircraft had accumulated 66,087.6 hours and 23,232 flight cycles during its service life. The Fijian carrier continues to operate two B737-800s and has a further two B737-8s on the ground. It is in the process of renewing its B737NG fleet with more B737 MAX with three B737-8s and one B737-9 awaiting delivery after the type’s recertification. Fiji Airways also operates five A330-200s, one A330-300, two A350-900s, one ATR42-600, two ATR72-600s, and four DHC-6-400s, the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows. The Avions de Transport Régional and De Havilland Aircraft of Canada turboprops are operated by subsidiary Fiji Link (FJA, Nadi).
