Now that Airlines Reporting Corp. has integrated Finnair’s New Distribution Capability offering into its ARC Direct Connect program, the carrier in October will begin to implement a $15 per-way surcharge in the EDIFACT channel in the United States, Finnair announced Thursday.

The fee will be applicable to all customer itineraries originating in the U.S., according to the carrier. Finnair already has added EDIFACT surcharges in Europe and most Asian markets.

In addition, Finnair will begin to differentiate between EDIFACT and NDC content in China, where it introduced NDC prior to the pandemic. Beginning in October, travel sellers in China will have a “clearer NDC offering, with access to the best third-party content only via modern retailing channels.”

Finnair earlier this year began to implement continuous pricing and in May began to remove all domestic itineraries for flights that take off and land in Finland from EDIFACT distribution. It also previously announcedthat the carrier intends to discontinue support for all EDIFACT content within the travel sector by the end of 2025.
