Finnair wins APEX/IFSA Best Cabin Innovation award

Finnair received top recognition at this year’s APEX/IFSA EXPO, with the Finnish carrier being awarded the accolade for Best Cabin Innovation at the APEX/IFSA Awards for its new long-haul cabin design and a ‘Five Star’ airline global ranking.

The Best Cabin Innovation award follows the carrier’s €200 million investment in its new long-haul cabin experience. This includes the launch of Finnair’s brand-new Business Class, new Premium Class cabin and a refreshed Economy Class.

David Kondo, Finnair Head of Customer Experience and Product Design, said: “We are thrilled Finnair’s new long-haul cabins have been further recognised with this win from APEX. The feedback from our customers and the market for our new long-haul product has been overwhelmingly positive and we’d like to thank our supplier partners and dedicated staff who worked over the many years of development to make this experience a reality.”

Launched in February of this year, the cabins offer a brand-new Business Class featuring an eye-catching non-reclining seat with spacious fixed living space, as well as a plush new Premium Economy cabin and refreshed Economy Class.

Customers for all cabin classes board through a stylish new entry area and a refreshment bar, creating a striking first impression with its sleek Nordic design, as well as new service opportunities for Cabin Crew.

The new long-haul interiors are being rolled out across the fleet, and are currently being operated on select flights between London and Helsinki and on services from Finland to New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Phuket and Bangkok.

Last month, Finnair was also voted the Best Airline in Northern Europe at the Skytrax World Airline Awards for the 12th consecutive time and the carrier also won gold in this year’s best ‘Cabin Concept’ category at the Onboard Hospitality Awards, while the International Yacht and Aviation Awards named Finnair as having the best Cabin (First & Business Class).

Finnair’s brand-new in-flight entertainment system was also awarded an international Red Dot Award 2022 in the Brand and Communication Design category, highlighting the commitment to improve the customer experience.
