Fire destroys 338-year-old Nantucket, Mass., hotel

Firefighters and other citizens are credited with saving lives by ensuring the evacuation of the Veranda House Hotel on Nantucket Island, Mass., as fire raged through the landmark Saturday. The Veranda, a mainstay of tourism on the island that dates to 1684, was described as a total loss along with two nearby buildings.
