Fliggy has taken a major step forward in AI-driven commerce, confirming that users can now complete travel bookings directly through its AI interface. Following the rollout of AI planning tools in 2025, the platform has evolved from assisting with trip inspiration to enabling full booking execution.

This capability is powered by Alibaba Group’s consumer-facing Qwen App, which recorded more than 200 million AI-driven shopping orders during the recent Chinese Spring Festival period. The scale of adoption highlights how quickly consumers are shifting from using AI for search to relying on it for transactional tasks.

Fliggy reported a sharp surge in AI-led performance during the holiday period. Overall AI-generated orders increased by 800%, with attraction ticket bookings emerging as the most popular category, rising more than 24-fold. Conversion rates for flights, trains, and attractions are now approaching those of established online travel agencies, indicating rapid maturity of AI-driven booking flows.

According to Alex Chen, the platform’s AI interface has transitioned from a planning assistant into a fully integrated booking engine. By leveraging Qwen’s deep integration across Alibaba’s ecosystem—including Fliggy, Taobao, Alipay, and Amap—users can now complete travel arrangements using natural language commands.

This shift reflects a broader transformation in user behavior. Consumers are increasingly interacting with AI not just to gather information but to execute complex, multi-step tasks such as booking flights, reserving hotels, and planning itineraries. Travel is also becoming more interconnected with everyday services, including shopping, food delivery, and entertainment bookings, creating a more seamless digital experience.

Fliggy’s move builds on its earlier adoption of a multi-agent AI framework, positioning the company at the forefront of the transition from traditional online travel agencies to what it describes as “omni-intelligent travel agents.” Throughout 2025, the company introduced several AI-powered products, including its consumer-facing assistant AskMe and enterprise solutions through its AliBtrip business travel unit.

The strategy is already gaining international traction. European travel partners are integrating Fliggy’s AI tools to better attract and serve Chinese outbound travelers, using automation to enhance personalization and streamline booking journeys.

As AI ecosystems continue to expand, Fliggy’s ability to combine planning, decision-making, and transaction within a single interface underscores a significant shift in digital travel. The move signals a future where AI becomes the primary gateway for travel discovery and booking, fundamentally reshaping how consumers interact with travel platforms.
