Israel’s June 13 airstrikes on Iran have triggered widespread airspace closures and major disruptions for international airlines operating in the Middle East. Following the strikes, which reportedly targeted nuclear sites, ballistic missile factories, and military leaders in Iran, multiple countries including Israel, Iran, Iraq, and Jordan shut down their airspace.

Israel’s Transport Ministry confirmed that Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv remains closed to all takeoffs and landings, advising passengers to stay home until further notice. Jordan’s Civil Aviation Authority similarly suspended all inbound, outbound, and transit flights, citing regional security risks.

El Al Israel Airlines announced that all flights, including subsidiary Sundor’s, are suspended. New bookings for flights through June 30 are halted, and passengers abroad are advised to arrange accommodation until security updates allow resumption of service. Israir has also suspended operations and moved aircraft out of Israel as a precaution.

The escalating Israel-Iran conflict has forced several global carriers to adjust their operations. Emirates canceled flights to Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iran, affecting routes to Amman, Baghdad, Basra, Beirut, and Tehran. Qatar Airways suspended services to Iran, Iraq, and Syria, while Etihad Airways and Turkish Airlines rerouted flights through Baku. Lufthansa suspended all flights to and from Tehran.

Air India was forced to divert a London-bound flight back to Mumbai mid-route, with other diversions made to Frankfurt, Jeddah, Sharjah, and Vienna. Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) also suspended flights to Beirut, closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation.
