Indian startup Fly91 is gearing up for a February 2024 launch, targeting flights under the UDAN-5.0 scheme. The airline, a joint venture between aviation executive Manoj Chacko and private equity firm Convergent Finance, intends to connect Jalgaon with Pune, Goa, and Hyderabad.

During a recent meeting with Pune local government officials, Fly91 discussed its launch plans and initial routes. The airline has secured a no-objection certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and is in the process of obtaining the necessary permissions for its operations.

Fly91 plans to commence operations with two ATR72-600 aircraft, with further expansion to six aircraft within the first 12 months of operation. The airline aims to tap into the Indian government’s UDAN scheme, which subsidizes flights to remote and regional areas, enhancing connectivity across the country.

Jalgaon Airport currently lacks scheduled passenger services, and the proposed routes by Fly91 are unserved. The startup aims to fill this gap and contribute to improved regional connectivity. The routes are part of the latest tranche released under UDAN-5.0, which allocates subsidies for specific routes and aircraft sizes.

Fly91 is moving ahead with its launch plans and aims to play a vital role in enhancing air connectivity to underserved regions in India.
