flydubai and Busy Bee Airways Deny Talks on Acquiring India’s Go First

flydubai and Busy Bee Airways have refuted recent media reports suggesting a collaborative effort to acquire the assets of defunct Indian airline Go First.

Nishant Pitti, co-founder of EaseMyTrip and owner of Busy Bee Airways, addressed the rumors on social media platform X, stating, “No discussions with flydubai. This is an old story. We are sub judice at the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) and won’t decide until the process is clear. However, India needs more airlines, not fewer.”

A spokesperson for flydubai emphasized the airline’s commitment to organic growth within the Indian market, stating, “India has always been a very important market for flydubai. We continuously look for opportunities to grow our network organically in India. We are not currently in any discussions for ventures with other airlines. If this changes in the future, an official announcement will be made.”

These statements come in response to a February 17 report by Moneycontrol, which claimed that flydubai and Busy Bee Airways were in negotiations with Go First’s liquidator and lenders to acquire the airline’s trademarks, domestic flying rights, and digital assets. Go First ceased operations in May 2023 and subsequently filed for voluntary insolvency. In January 2025, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) ordered the liquidation of the airline after unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer.

Following the liquidation order, Busy Bee Airways challenged the decision before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), expressing interest in acquiring Go First’s assets to revive the airline. The NCLAT has advised Busy Bee Airways to engage with Go First’s lenders to negotiate a potential acquisition.

Despite these developments, both flydubai and Busy Bee Airways have made it clear that no joint venture discussions are currently underway regarding the acquisition of Go First’s assets.
