flydubai Unveils New Business Class Cabin at Arabian Travel Market
Dubai-based carrier flydubai presented its new business class cabin, “The Business Suite” at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) trade show in Dubai. The carrier expects to begin rolling out the new product across its fleet before the end of 2023.
The new concept, conceived by JPA Design, is designed to provide levels of comfort onboard single-aisle Boeing 737s comparable to that found on wide-body aircraft.
The expanded range of the latest generation single-aisle aircraft, such as the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft flown by flydubai (or its competing aircraft, the Airbus A321LR), is prompting some airlines and designers to rethink the passenger experience on the increasing longer segments flown by their narrow-body aircraft.
Each aircraft will be fitted with 10 of Safran’s VUE seats, of which flydubai is the launch customer.
Each business suite is enclosed by a hard outer shell creating a private space with sliding doors for enhanced privacy and direct aisle access. A 17-inch 4K screen will provide access to the airline’s inflight entertainment system, which will also be accessible through the passengers’ personal devices via Bluetooth connection.
Although it started as a low-cost carrier with close links to Dubai-based carrier Emirates, flydubai has been updating and upgrading its business class product since it was first launched in 2013. In 2017 the airline introduced lie-flat seats onboard its Boeing 737 MAX fleet.
