FlyJet Aviation Expands Fleet with Three Mallard ME-1A Amphibious Aircraft
In a significant move at the 2024 Farnborough Airshow, India’s FlyJet Aviation has entered into a letter of intent (LOI) with Mallard Aircraft for the acquisition of three ME-1A amphibious aircraft. This agreement marks a pivotal step for FlyJet in diversifying and enhancing its service capabilities.
FlyJet Aviation, headquartered in Bangalore, is known for its innovative approach as a virtual business jet operator, skillfully matching clients with an array of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. The addition of the ME-1A amphibious aircraft from Mallard promises to open new horizons for FlyJet, enabling access to previously unreachable destinations.
Jigisha Parmar, CEO of FlyJet Aviation, highlighted the strategic fit of the ME-1A aircraft in their fleet: “The ME-1A amphibious aircraft, equipped with the latest technology platform from Mallard Enterprises, will extend our reach and offer a safe, reliable, and economically and environmentally sustainable travel experience for our customers.”
Dan Peabody, Co-Founder and CEO of Mallard Enterprises, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are excited to contribute to FlyJet’s diverse aircraft fleet and provide their customers access to new regions. The ME-1A’s amphibious capability, speed, competitive economics, and green credentials align perfectly with FlyJet’s vision.”
The Farnborough Airshow has proven fruitful for Mallard, as this deal represents their second major LOI at the event. Earlier, they secured an agreement with Mehair (Mumbai International) for fifty ME-1A aircraft. The ME-1A is currently under development and is expected to accommodate up to 19 passengers for 650 kilometers fully loaded, or travel over 1,800 kilometers with ten passengers and typical airline reserves. According to Mallard’s COO Mohan Chunduri, the company anticipates starting deliveries by late 2027 or early 2028, marking a new era in amphibious air travel.
