FTC Aviation to Resume San Marino AOC Operations by Late 2025

FTC Aviation plans to reactivate its San Marino Air Operator Certificate (AOC) by the fourth quarter of 2025, likely in September or October, as it recovers from the effects of international sanctions linked to Russia. CEO Aleksandar Simić told ch-aviation that the AOC was voluntarily suspended to comply with EU Regulation 2022/334 regarding restrictive measures following the Ukraine conflict.

Although FTC Aviation is not listed on any sanctions registry, it faced major export control restrictions from both the U.S. and EU. These led Bombardier Aerospace to suspend FTC’s access to essential subscription services, citing regulatory obligations. As FTC primarily managed aircraft owned by Russian nationals, the sanctions significantly disrupted its operations.

Before the crisis, FTC operated 13 managed heavy jets, mostly based in Moscow. Now, the company’s sole aircraft is a Challenger 650, T7-MIN (msn 6119), which is undergoing maintenance ahead of a relaunch later this year. The jet will be based at Dubai World Central and serve luxury destinations including the Maldives and Seychelles. FTC expects to add a Gulfstream G650 and a Legacy 650 to the fleet by year-end.

FTC focuses on owner-specific charters and aircraft management rather than retail charter flights. The company has also expanded into consulting, CAMO services, and operational support, offering dispatch and planning assistance to other operators. Despite past challenges, Simić says FTC’s Operational Control Center remained active, supporting long-haul operators across the Middle East and enabling the company to maintain a functional infrastructure during its hiatus.
