Gama Aviation Opens $60m Sharjah FBO to Expand Middle East Reach

Gama Aviation has officially inaugurated a major new fixed-base operation in Sharjah, marking a significant expansion of its global business aviation footprint and strengthening its presence in the Middle East. The new facility represents an investment of more than $60 million and is designed to serve a wide range of business jet operators with both operational support and maintenance services.
Located at Sharjah International Airport, the FBO spans approximately 80,000 square metres and combines hangarage, ramp space, and passenger facilities in a single integrated complex. At the heart of the development is a 12,000-square-metre hangar featuring twin bays with 25-metre-high doors, capable of accommodating large business jets and special mission aircraft. The hangar is supported by a 36,000-square-metre dedicated aircraft ramp, allowing for efficient aircraft movements and parking, even during peak operating periods.
The Sharjah facility also includes a purpose-built terminal designed to provide a premium experience for passengers and crew, with private lounges, briefing rooms, and streamlined handling processes. Gama Aviation said the FBO has been developed to meet the growing demand for high-quality business aviation infrastructure in the region, particularly as traffic continues to shift toward secondary hubs offering congestion relief and cost advantages over larger metropolitan airports.
In addition to ground handling and FBO services, the Sharjah site will deliver both line and base maintenance capabilities. Maintenance support will cover aircraft from manufacturers including Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, Embraer Executive Jets, and Hawker Beechcraft. All maintenance activities will be conducted under approvals from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, enabling the facility to support a broad international customer base.
Gama Aviation said the combination of FBO and maintenance services at a single location is intended to provide operational efficiency for operators transiting or basing aircraft in the UAE. Sharjah’s geographic position also makes it well suited for flights connecting Europe, Africa, South Asia, and the wider Middle East, particularly for long-range business jets and charter operators.
The new Sharjah FBO complements Gama Aviation’s existing FBO operations at Glasgow Airport and Jersey Airport, further reinforcing the company’s strategy of developing high-quality facilities at strategically located airports. Together, these sites form part of Gama Aviation’s wider global network, which spans aircraft management, charter, maintenance, and special mission services.
The Sharjah opening reflects broader growth in Middle Eastern business aviation, driven by rising private wealth, increased corporate travel, and the region’s role as a crossroads for global air traffic. With its substantial investment and dual FBO–MRO offering, Gama Aviation is positioning the Sharjah facility as a long-term hub for business aviation operations in the Gulf and beyond.
