GE Aerospace Secures Significant Civil Engine Deals at Paris Air Show

GE Aerospace announced several significant deals with Riyadh Air, Republic Airways, and Garuda Indonesia at the Paris Air Show. The agreements cover various types of engines, including GEnx-1B, CF34-8E, GE90, and CFM56.

Riyadh Air, a new Saudi Arabian airline that plans to launch operations in 2024, signed a letter of intent to purchase 30 GEnx-1B engines to power its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The deal also includes a 15-year TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the engines. The total value of the deal is estimated at $2.5 billion.

Republic Airways, one of the largest CF34 operators in the world, ordered 37 CF34-8E engines to power its 18 new Embraer E175 aircraft. The order also includes an extension of its TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for its entire CF34 fleet of more than 200 engines. The total value of the order and the service extension is estimated at $1.3 billion.

Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of Indonesia, signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase 20 GE90-115B engines to power its 10 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The deal also includes a 12-year TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the engines. The total value of the deal is estimated at $1.2 billion.

In addition, GE Aerospace also announced that it has delivered more than 1,000 CFM56 engines to various customers around the world since the beginning of the year. The CFM56 engine is a joint venture between GE and Safran Aircraft Engines and is one of the most popular and reliable engines in the industry.

GE Aerospace’s president and CEO John Slattery said that he was delighted with the outcome of the Paris Air Show and that he was looking forward to working with the new and existing customers. He said that GE Aerospace’s engines offer superior performance, efficiency, and reliability to meet the diverse needs of the aviation market.

The Paris Air Show is the world’s largest aerospace event and features more than 2,000 exhibitors from 50 countries. It is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors and generate billions of euros in business deals.
