Germany’s SundAir enters Swedish scheduled market
SundAir (SR, Berlin Brandenburg Int’l) has launched scheduled weekly flights between Stockholm Arlanda and Beirut, its first scheduled services that do not connect with its home market, Germany. According to a press release issued by Swedavia, the operator of the Swedish gateway, flights launched on December 11, 2020, and are operated with an A320-200. According to the ch-aviation fleets advanced module, SundAir has five such aircraft in its fleet alongside two A319-100s. Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows that so far, the leisure specialist has used D-ASMR (msn 2619) on both flights from Stockholm to Beirut. “We are already very experienced with flights to Beirut, which is a destination we are serving from Berlin Brandenburg Int’l and Düsseldorf Int’l. Stockholm, with its large Lebanese and also Syrian population, was the next logical step for us to expand,” Chief Executive Marcos Rossello said. Besides its services to Lebanon from the two German cities and Stockholm, SundAir currently plies a limited number of flights from various German cities to the Canary Islands. Prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Stockholm-Beirut route was served by Germania (ST, Berlin Schönefeld), and following its bankruptcy by SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup).
