Gestair Private Jets, based at Madrid Barajas, has officially retired its sole Citation Sovereign, EC-MLV, after over six years of service within its fleet. The 16.4-year-old jet, a staple in Gestair’s operations since 2017, concluded its active service with a final international journey from Zurich to the United States.

The aircraft’s last operational flight under Gestair’s banner was on June 25, when it flew from Santander to Zurich. It remained stationed there until November 8, briefly returning to the skies for a round trip to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden. The Citation Sovereign’s final departure from Zurich was on November 13, making stops in Reykjavik Keflavik and Bangor International, before reaching its ultimate destination at Georgetown Executive the following day. Subsequent to its arrival in the U.S., the jet was de-registered in Spain, though its new registration details remain undisclosed.

Despite the retirement of the Citation Sovereign, Gestair’s fleet remains diverse and robust, continuing to operate various other models from the Citation family. This includes a Citation Excel, a Citation II, a Citation Latitude, and four Citation XLS+ jets, with the latest XLS+ entering service on November 29 under the ‘GES’ code.

Gestair manages a comprehensive fleet of 26 aircraft featuring a variety of models from prominent manufacturers such as Bombardier Business Aircraft, Dassault Aviation, Embraer Executive Jets, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Pilatus Aircraft. This diverse fleet underscores Gestair’s capability to cater to a broad spectrum of client needs and preferences in private aviation.

Additionally, Gestair’s other division, Gestair Aviation Malta, operates six aircraft under its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC). Although it currently does not manage any Citation models, it had previously operated a Citation Sovereign+ from 2020 until earlier this year, reflecting the company’s ongoing adjustments to its fleet composition to better serve its clientele.

The retirement of the Citation Sovereign marks a pivotal moment in Gestair’s fleet evolution, as the company continues to adapt and update its aircraft lineup to maintain its competitive edge in the private jet charter market.
