Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) posted a strong financial performance for the first half of 2025, with Royal Schiphol Group reporting €214 million ($251 million) in net income—more than double its €99 million result from 1H 2024. Revenue rose 20.4% year-over-year to €1.26 billion. The operator is seeking external funding to support a €6 billion investment plan aimed at improving airport quality, including the timely construction of Pier A, set to open in April 2027.
In the U.S., New York JFK’s New Terminal One (NTO) consortium successfully closed a $1.37 billion green bond issuance to fund the first phase of the $9 billion international terminal. Led by Ferrovial, the consortium has now raised $4.3 billion through green bonds. Phase one, with 14 gates, opens in 2026, while the full buildout—including 23 gates and 2.4 million sq. ft.—is expected by 2030.
Velana International Airport (MLE) in the Maldives has inaugurated a new passenger terminal with six gates and 47 check-in counters, increasing annual capacity to 7 million passengers.
In the U.S., the TSA issued a request for information (RFI) seeking advanced checkpoint screening technology. The agency is prioritizing solutions that use AI, reduce labor demands, and enhance passenger throughput. Submissions are due by August 1.
Morocco has announced a MAD25 billion ($2.7 billion) plan to expand five major airports ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The centerpiece is a new terminal and runway at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport. The upgrades aim to boost Morocco’s airport capacity to 80 million passengers annually by 2030.
