Global Entry wait spikes, travelers steered to PreCheck

As wait times for the Global Entry program have increased to as much as 18 months, the Department of Homeland Security is encouraging travelers who mostly fly domestically to apply for TSA PreCheck instead. Both programs allow passengers to receive advance clearance and speed their passage through security lines, while Global Entry also decreases immigration processing waits when entering the US.
