GOL to Launch Asunción–Miami 737-8 Flights

GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes will introduce four weekly non-stop flights between Asunción and Miami International beginning in June 2026, marking Paraguay’s first direct air link to the United States.

The new service will operate as a seventh freedom route, allowing the Brazilian carrier to connect Paraguay and the US without linking the flight to Brazil. According to the airline, the sector will be operated by the Boeing 737-8 and will cover approximately 6,154 kilometres, with a flight time of around eight hours. GOL said the route will become the longest non-stop flight in the world operated by a 737-8.

The launch follows regulatory clearance earlier this year when Asunción’s Silvio Pettirossi International Airport received approval from the US Transportation Security Administration to handle non-stop services to and from the United States. The certification enables Paraguayan authorities and airlines to meet US security standards required for direct operations.

For Paraguay, the route represents a significant milestone in international connectivity, eliminating the need for passengers to transit through regional hubs such as São Paulo, Panama City, or Buenos Aires when traveling to the US. The service is expected to support tourism, business travel, and trade links between the two countries, while also strengthening Miami’s role as a key gateway for South America.

As of February 2026, GOL already connects Asunción with São Paulo Guarulhos and Rio de Janeiro International in Brazil. The Paraguayan capital’s airport is served by 12 other scheduled airlines, including Aerolíneas Argentinas, avianca airlines, avianca cargo, Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras, BoA – Boliviana de Aviación, Flybondi, Paranair, Air Europa, Copa Airlines, JetSMART, LATAM Airlines, and Air Class Líneas Aéreas.

By deploying its next-generation 737-8 on the route, GOL continues to leverage the aircraft’s extended range and fuel efficiency to open longer thin markets across the Americas. The Asunción–Miami service further expands the airline’s international footprint while positioning it as a key player in Paraguay’s evolving long-haul connectivity landscape.
