Grand Canyon Airlines is set to launch scheduled passenger flights on January 6, 2025, offering a new route connecting Safford and Phoenix Sky Harbor. This service will be made possible through grants from the United States Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP) and the Freeport-McMoRan Community Investment Fund, according to a statement from the City of Safford.

The one-hour flight will provide a convenient connection between the two cities, linking with the Jackson Jet Center Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) at Phoenix Sky Harbor. This marks an important milestone for both Grand Canyon Airlines and the city of Safford, offering a new, reliable travel option for residents and visitors alike.

Grand Canyon Airlines, which is listed under the FAA’s Part 135 operators, currently operates a fleet of 17 aircraft. The fleet includes twelve DHC-6-300s and five Cessna 208Bs, which are used for various air services, including scheduled flights and scenic charters.

The new service will operate twice daily, making it the only scheduled route from Safford. In addition to this new scheduled service, Grand Canyon Airlines also offers charter scenic flights departing from Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport. These flights take passengers to iconic destinations such as Grand Canyon National Park, Hoover Dam, and Antelope Canyon, further solidifying the airline’s position in the tourism sector.

Ch-aviation has reached out to Grand Canyon Airlines for additional details about the service, but a response was not immediately available. However, the launch of this new route is expected to enhance connectivity for residents of Safford and nearby areas, providing more travel options to Phoenix and beyond.

As Grand Canyon Airlines expands its services, it continues to cater to both regular and leisure travelers, capitalizing on its extensive fleet and the growing demand for regional and scenic air travel.
