Greece’s Lumiwings adds first B737-700

Lumiwings (LWI, Forli) took delivery of its maiden B737NG narrowbody, specifically a B737-700, on May 27, 2021. SX-LWC (msn 30659), an 18.1-year-old aircraft, was ferried from Amsterdam Schiphol for maintenance to Craiova and remains at the Romanian airport, for the time being, AirNav RadarBox ADS-B data shows. The Boeing narrowbody is owned by KDAC Aircraft Leasing, managed by DVB Bank Aviation Asset Management, and had been operated by Transavia Airlines since initial delivery in 2003 until September 2020. The carrier, which began operations as an ACMI/charter specialist but transitioned to leisure-focused scheduled flights in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, has yet to file any schedules for the B737-700. Following a series of delays, the airline launched scheduled flights from Forli to Palermo and Trapani in Sicily on May 28, 2021, using its sole B737-300. Its internet booking engine indicates that it will gradually expand its network from Forli over the coming weeks, adding international services targeting both inbound and outbound tourists. Although Lumiwings is based in Greece, it focuses on the Italian market as its core business.
