Grupo Xcaret to Implement Electric ‘EcoBuses’ for Destination Xcaret
Grupo Xcaret will be implementing electric buses, which they will call EcoBus Xcaret, in Destination Xcaret, its many parks and attractions, as a way to increase sustainability.
According to Riviera Maya News, the parks will source their electric buses from Scania México, which produces the Scania Volt e-Urviabus, the first fully electric bus assembled in Mexico.
“Today we take a big step in our commitment to reduce emissions by presenting, together with Scania, the first 100 percent electric bus assembled in Mexico, a milestone that undoubtedly fills Grupo Xcaret with pride, since it not only allows us to advance in electromobility issues, but at the same time, it boosts the Mexican economy and supports innovations and technological developments made in our country,” said Elizabeth Lugo, Executive Director of Parks and Tours Operations of Grupo Xcaret.
It’s unknown when the parks will implement these electric vehicles.
Grupo Xcaret owns resorts like Xcaret Hotel Arte, La Casa de La Playa and Hotel Xcaret Mexico, along with its many parks, like Xcaret Park, a waterpark, eco-park and archaeological park in one. Other parks include Xplor, Xel-Ha, Xenses and five more. The group also offers tours to popular sites in the area, including ancient ruins and cenotes, as well as a new offering, Xcaret Xailing, which takes travelers to and from Isla Mujeres.
