In an effort to stimulate Bahrain’s tourism sector, Gulf Air Group (GFG) is taking significant steps under the leadership of CEO Jeffrey Goh. Goh detailed these initiatives in a recent interview, highlighting the strategic moves ahead of the Routes World 2024 event set to take place in Bahrain.

As part of the kingdom’s broader economic diversification plan, Goh explained that Gulf Air is recalibrating its network to increase connectivity. This aligns directly with the national tourism strategy aiming to enhance both the quantity and quality of visitors to Bahrain. “Our aim is to ensure seamless connectivity from the globe into Bahrain,” Goh stated. The focus is on balancing transfer traffic with local traffic to increase tourism footfall.

To achieve these goals, Gulf Air has introduced new routes and increased frequencies. Recent launches include flights to Shanghai and Guangzhou in China, and an increased service to Munich, Germany. Goh revealed plans for further expansion into the Far East and Europe, particularly Central and Eastern Europe, citing the regions as significant growth areas for tourism and foreign direct investment.

Operational efficiency and exceptional customer service are at the core of Gulf Air’s strategy as it expands. Goh emphasized improvements such as complimentary Wi-Fi in all cabins and a pre-order meal service for business-class passengers on long-haul flights. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to elevate the customer experience both on the ground and in the air.

Despite global challenges like supply chain disruptions affecting aircraft availability, Goh remains optimistic about Gulf Air’s role in promoting Bahrain as a top tourism destination. He also highlighted the upcoming Routes World 2024 event as a pivotal opportunity for showcasing Bahrain’s attractions. This event will not only highlight Bahrain as a critical connecting hub but also as a vibrant destination rich in cultural heritage and modern attractions.

Goh’s collaboration with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority aims to sync Gulf Air’s connectivity enhancements with national efforts to attract more tourists, offering unique experiences that blend Bahrain’s traditional charm with its contemporary allure.

This strategic focus by Gulf Air is poised to significantly influence Bahrain’s tourism landscape, promising a new era of growth and international connectivity for the kingdom.
