Gulfstream Aerospace has completed production of its final G650ER, marking the end of an era for the ultra-long-range jet. The aircraft, test-registered as N698GA (msn 6598), rolled off the production line at Savannah International and is now headed to Appleton Outgamie County Regional for final completion. Delivery to an undisclosed customer is scheduled for 2025.

The G650 program, launched in March 2008, saw its first test flight with N650GA (msn 6001) on November 25, 2009. The jet received FAA certification on September 7, 2012, with the first delivery going to former Gulfstream executive Preston Henne on December 20, 2012.

Despite halting production, Gulfstream will continue supporting the G650 with new technologies and performance upgrades. “Our Customer Support and program management teams will keep developing advanced technologies for retrofit,” said Gulfstream President Mark Burns.

The G650’s successor, the Gulfstream G800, was announced in October 2021 as the company’s next-generation ultra-long-range business jet. The G800 completed its first test flight on June 29, 2022, at Savannah International. FAA certification is expected in the first half of 2025.

The G800 promises enhanced efficiency and range, positioning Gulfstream to maintain its competitive edge in the global business aviation market. With the G650 program concluding, Gulfstream is now fully focused on the G800’s entry into service, delivering advanced capabilities for long-haul private jet travel.
