Gulfstream Aerospace has achieved another significant milestone with its ultra-long-range G700 business jet, securing certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on May 15, 2024. This follows closely on the heels of its approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) just over a month earlier, signaling a robust entry into international markets.

The G700, which is the largest and fastest model in the Gulfstream family to date, boasts impressive capabilities. It can carry up to 19 passengers, achieves a top speed of Mach 0.935, and offers a range of up to 7,750 nautical miles at a cruising speed of Mach 0.85. Priced at approximately $75 million per unit, the G700 is designed to meet the demands of global business travel with unparalleled luxury and efficiency.

Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream Aerospace, expressed enthusiasm about the new certification, stating, “The Gulfstream team is proud to add EASA to our growing G700 certification accomplishments. This EASA certification unlocks G700 deliveries for many more of our international customers, and we are excited to see our next-generation fleet grow around the world.”

The G700 was first introduced at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2019. It is a stretched version of the Gulfstream G500 and shares a cockpit with the G500 and G600 models. Since its launch, the aircraft has undergone extensive flight testing, which has not only validated its performance specifications but also led to significant improvements. Notably, its maximum range was increased by 250 nautical miles during testing, further enhancing its long-haul capabilities.

During its rigorous flight test program, the G700 set speed records on routes from Savannah, Georgia to Doha, Qatar, and then from Doha to Paris, demonstrating its exceptional performance capabilities. The FAA certification process also confirmed additional performance enhancements, including shorter required takeoff and landing distances, which provide greater flexibility in airport selection and access.

The G700 features the most spacious cabin in business aviation, which can be configured with up to five living areas. Options include a grand suite with an expanded lavatory or the industry’s largest ‘ultra-galley’. The cabin also boasts whisper-quiet noise levels, 20 Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows, and 100% fresh air circulation, ensuring passenger comfort and well-being.

As of April 2024, Gulfstream parent company General Dynamics announced that between 50 and 52 of these jets are expected to be delivered by the end of the year. With the first 20 G700s ready for delivery and more scheduled for June 2024, Gulfstream is preparing for a steady pace of 13 deliveries per quarter to meet the increasing demand for this ultra-long-range jet.

This EASA certification represents a crucial step for Gulfstream as it continues to expand its presence in the global market, offering state-of-the-art aviation solutions that combine luxury, performance, and safety.
