Hawaiian Airlines to Restart A330 Flights Between Tokyo and Kona
Hawaiian Airlines has announced that it will resume its nonstop service between Tokyo’s Haneda Airport and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport on the island of Hawaii, starting from October 29th. The airline will operate three flights in the first week, before launching regular weekly service on November 22nd. The frequency will gradually increase to three times a week by March 2024.
The airline said that it is restoring its Japan network to meet the increasing demand from travelers who want to visit Hawaii. The carrier currently offers daily flights between Honolulu and Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, and Osaka, as well as three weekly flights between Honolulu and Fukuoka.
Hawaiian Airlines first launched the Haneda-Kona service in 2016, but suspended it in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline will continue to use its spacious Airbus A330 aircraft for the route, which feature 18 fully lie-flat seats in the premium cabin, 68 extra comfort seats, and 192 main cabin seats.
The airline’s Japan country director, Takaya Shishido, expressed his pleasure at bringing back the convenient service between Tokyo and Hawaii Island. He said that the gradual increase in the weekly service will allow the airline to ramp up its operations and serve its guests better.
The flight from Kona to Haneda will depart at 6:15 p.m. and arrive at 10:00 p.m. the next day. The flight from Haneda to Kona will depart at 11:55 p.m. and arrive at 12:50 p.m. the same day.
