Atlas Ocean Voyages Names World Navigator and World Traveller
Atlas Ocean Voyages’ recently celebrated the special inaugural voyage and dual-naming ceremony of the spectacular Explorer Class World Traveller and World Navigator in Patagonia, South America. These beautiful yacht-style all-inclusive expedition ships can navigate to the world’s most remote destinations. To showcase all that awaits, the cruise line celebrated with a plethora of VIP guests that included shareholders, travel advisors, media, and dignitaries from Chile and Argentina. Here’s a look at some of the many highlights from last month’s naming and christening ceremonies.

James Rodriguez Thanks Travel Advisors
James Rodriguez, President and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages and a 20-year cruise industry veteran has already taken his brand to the top and attributes a large part of his success to travel advisors, many of which were included on the VIP invite list of this inaugural voyage.

A Blessing for the New Ships
The World Traveller’s blessing and naming ceremony was held alongside the majestic glaciers of Beagle Channel’s Glacier Alley with a gala celebration dinner and entertainment following. The World Navigator, although it has been in service for over a year, was never christened due to COVID-19 restrictions and was named and blessed the following day below the astounding Giribaldi Glacier in Chile.

A Godmother is Named for World Traveller
Theresa Scalzitti, World Traveller’s Godmother is just as amazing as the ship. Theresa has been the Chief Sales Officer of Cruise Planners since 2016 and boasts a very prestigious 30-year career in the travel industry and a huge travel advisor following. Theresa was the perfect choice for Godmother of this glamorous yacht-style vessel.

World Navigator Names a Godmother
Karen Lundgren, Godmother of the World Navigator, is as adventurous as this awesome vessel. Lundgren, a professional explorer and athlete and has earned the honor of being only the 13th woman in the world to conquer the Seven Summits, comprised of the seven highest mountain peaks on each continent. She is also one of the few American women who has reached the north side peak of Mt. Everest.

Breaking of the Champagne
The breaking champagne bottle officiates the naming and christening of the World Traveller. Both of Atlas’ luxurious expedition ships were built in Portugal to exactly the same specs with the only difference being the gorgeous décor of the Navigator displaying darker, warmer earthy tones. The service on the ships is impeccable with only 94 spacious staterooms and a 1:1 guest to staff ratio.

Atlas Ocean Voyages’ Crew Celebrates Their New Ship
The World Navigator crew celebrates their ship’s christening after a yearlong wait due to the pandemic. They have much to celebrate, besides the 94 gorgeous cabins, their ship offers numerous amazing restaurants, a fitness center, a theater, a spa, a sauna, two hot tubs, a pool and a jogging track.

The Godmothers are Honored
World explorer and adventurer Karen Lundgren and Theresa Scalzitti, Chief Sales Officer for Cruise Planners, were chosen for the coveted roles of Godmother for the World Navigator and World Traveller, respectively. To memorialize this event, portraits of both women were unveiled and will adorn the lobby in each of their ships.

Atlas Ocean Voyages hired an amazing talent for this special occasion. Asijah Pickett, a powerhouse vocalist, provided unrivaled entertainment during this unforgettable journey.

The Special Ceremony Comes to a Close
The World Navigator was named and christened during a moving ceremony on November 20, below the majestic Garibaldi Glacier in Chile.
