Hilton Worldwide plans to hire 1,500 refugees throughout Europe during the next three years, the company announced last week during the Tent Foundation European Business Summit.

Hilton’s plan, in collaboration with Tent Partnership for Refugees, would aid the hotel company’s effort to create 5 million “learning and career growth opportunities globally by 2030,” the company said in a statement. To achieve this, Hilton will support Tent’s “efforts in creating employment pathways for underrepresented groups,” including refugees, minorities, persons with disabilities, military veterans and their families, the company said. The move also serve to fill some of the many vacancies across the hospitality industry.

According to Hilton, the company has hired more than 400 refugees across 73 hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa since 2022. Hilton originally partnered with Tent in 2018 as the first hospitality company involved with the organization, the hotel company said.

Hilton’s pledge joins a list of other industry leaders making the public hiring commitment, including Marriott International. Marriott plans to hire more than 1,500 refugees in the U.S. by 2025 and more than 1,500 refugees in Europe by 2026.
