HiSky Europe Launches Direct Flights from Bucharest to Paris
HiSky Europe marked a significant expansion in its flight operations by launching its first direct service between Bucharest, Romania, and Paris, France, on October 14, 2024. The inaugural flight, designated HYS221, departed from Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest at 11:14 and touched down at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport at 13:17 local time after approximately two hours of flying. This service, utilizing the Airbus A320 registered as YR-JOY, underscores HiSky Europe’s growth and its commitment to enhancing connectivity between Eastern Europe and major Western cities.
The airline, which becomes the third to offer direct flights on this route following Romania’s TAROM and France’s Air France, aims to provide passengers with more efficient travel options to and from Paris. Previously, direct flights from Bucharest to Paris were limited, with only four airlines operating the route, including two low-cost carriers that landed at less convenient secondary airports. HiSky’s service now promises a more central arrival point with the comforts of a full-service airline.
Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky, highlighted the significance of this new service, stating, “Until today, passengers seeking direct flights from Bucharest to Paris had limited options, particularly with full-service carriers. We believed that travelers needed an affordable alternative that combines convenience with quality service.”
HiSky’s new route will operate three times per week—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—with a flight schedule designed for optimal accessibility. Departures from Bucharest are at 10:20, arriving in Paris at 12:25. The return flights leave Paris at 13:25 and arrive back in Bucharest at 17:10. This schedule facilitates smooth connections for travelers coming from other cities such as Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, and Timisoara through Bucharest.
Currently, HiSky is the second-largest full-service carrier in Romania after TAROM and operates a diverse fleet of six aircraft, including three Airbus A320s, two A321neos, and one A330-200 for long-haul flights. The airline also maintains an extensive network, offering scheduled services on 26 routes to 23 destinations across 11 countries, based out of multiple cities including Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timisoara, and extends to charter flights in collaboration with Romanian travel agencies.
