Holland America Brings Back Behind-the-Scenes Ship Tours

Holland America Line has announced the return of its popular behind-the-scenes ship tours, offering guests rare access to typically restricted crew and operational areas. The immersive experience provides a deeper understanding of what goes into running a modern cruise ship.
The guided tours allow guests to explore areas such as the ship’s bridge, galley, bakery, engine control room, recycling center, main laundry, and more. Led by senior officers and crew members, the experience includes expert insights into daily ship operations, safety systems, food preparation, and technical logistics.
Guests who complete the tour will receive exclusive keepsakes, including a ship-specific lanyard, a commemorative certificate, and a souvenir photo collection to mark the experience.
“We hear so often from guests who’d love to see the bridge or where our chefs prepare their meals,” said Carole Biencourt, Vice President of Onboard Revenue at Holland America Line. “By bringing back this tour experience, we’re offering guests a rare look at the inner workings of a cruise ship and celebrating the dedicated crew members who make each voyage memorable.”
The behind-the-scenes tour is currently offered on select ships and will expand fleetwide by the end of July 2025. The cost is $179 per person, and tours can be booked on board at Guest Services. An accessible version of the tour is also available.
This unique offering continues Holland America’s tradition of engaging, educational experiences at sea, giving guests a greater appreciation for the people and systems that ensure smooth sailing.
